The Martin College national scholarship program provides winners with a grant towards the Martin College course of their choice.
We received many applications for the 2008 scholarship from across New South Wales. Eligible applicants must have been due to complete year 12 in 2007 and be a permanent resident of Australia. The selection criteria includes Academic performance, Community involvement, Professional presentation, Interest and Enthusiasm.
This year, we are delighted to announce Anita Ianni as the winner of our Sydney campus scholarship. Anita will be studying the Diploma of Graphic Design (Advertising).
Prior to Martin college, I completed my Higher School Certificate at Marist Sisters College Woolwich. I also completed a certificate III in Design Fundamental at Billy Blue School of Graphic Arts.
Why did you decide to study at Martin College and applying for the National Martin College 2008 Scholarship? What helped you make your decision?
I decided to study at Martin College as I was able to undertake a Graphic Design course which specialised in Advertising. My decision was also influenced, as the duration of the course was only 45 weeks and would allow me to again a Diploma within a year of studying. In saying this, I applied for the National Martin College Scholarship as I believed it would be a great experience and would open up many doors in the future. I also thought it would e a great experience to be an ambassador for the college as I would be able to share my experience with others and work with people in the field.
What are you most looking forward to about commencing your studies at Martin College?
I am looking forward to studying in an enjoyable environment and studying Graphic Design. In addition, I am looking forward to working with the Martin College Marketing team and being and ambassador for the college.
What are your plans after you complete your studies?
After completing my studies I intent to find a job as a designer wither working for a magazine company or working within an advertising agency.
What are your career ambitions?
I intend to follow a career path in the field of Graphic Design; whether it be in advertising or editorial. I hope to work for a magazine company as a designer and one day I look forward to being an Art Director of a design department/team.
How do you think the Martin College Scholarship will assist you with your future aspirations and what do you hope to gain from this experience?
I believe that being awarded the Martin College Scholarship will give me arrange of opportunity with my future aspirations. In saying this, being a scholarship winner will allow me to work with the marketing team and will allow me to converse with people in the industry and my chosen career path. By being a scholarship winner, I hope to gain sufficient skills which will be beneficial when seeking a job in the area of design and I hope that my experience enables me to be ready for the work force and ready for a successful career.
