The Gold Coast Hospital has welcomed students from the Martin College Event Management Team to implement their knowledge and skills to create the ‘Princes and Princesses Party’ for the Hospital’s sick children.
The event is being held at the Gold Coast Hospital on Tuesday, 19th February from 10:30 to 12:15am and is aimed to alleviate the daily routine of being sick in hospital, giving the children an opportunity to escape into a fairy tale world of ‘Princes and Princesses’.
Most of the children who will participate will have major surgery the following day.
The Martin College students will entertain the children with games and activities, and make special visits to the ward for children confined to bed.
Special characters will also make a visit to the hospital to surprise the children with storytelling and jokes.
The children’s ward Lollipop-room will be decorated with pictures of a castle, princes and princesses, balloons and glitter, giving the children the perception of entering into a fantasy kingdom where they themselves can become princes and princesses.
During the party a drawing/painting area will be setup with children’s games.
There will be opportunity for the girls to get their hair done and for the boys to get scratch on tattoos
The event will seek sponsorship from the community and local businesses to raise awareness of child illness and the ongoing support that is required.
The Martin College ‘Generation Y’ students will be applying their knowledge to create an event that will utilize their career skills to create a positive impact on the community and put smiles on little faces!
